This thread is inspired by reports on CNN that Caroline Kennedy has asked NY governor to be appointed as Clinton's senate replacement should the former be Secratary of State. Bushes, Kennedys, Clintons, Adams, Trudeaus (Canada). Every country has them, (wikipedia "political families" ), Why does a system that should be a pure meritocracy (democracy) get currupted by a desire to have the same name rise to the top over and over? Is it that it makes for easy media stories or because what people really want is a stability of a monarchy?
