I finally got the Auf Weidersehen Petrovic trophy on GTA IV. Had to leave my PS3 running GTA for nearly a week to get it since I had very little help and no-one likes to play the boat/helicopter/free/canonball races much. You can get it even if you get disconnected from PSN etc so long as you don't quit the game.
