I also read a report (possibly a rumor) recently, that they are going to update GT5:P with weather and damage sometime in the spring/summer, so I'm fairly sure there is weather, and it looks like they almost have everyone's agreement on damage.

Well that's good to know, certainly will be a welcome feature.

I'm sure that they are trying keep it mum if they can, because MS Studios is likely to copy some of the ideas and add them to Forza 3 (and vice versa)

What I don't understand is the damage issue.  Forza 2 incorporates damage with all of the manufacturers cars, so why is it such a big deal for GT5 to have damage?

Polyphony Digital receives the rights to use the cars in GT for free.  The makers of Forza and other car games pay for the rights to use them.  I'm not sure how much damage they are allowed to do with the payed contracts but i doubt its very extensive.

This is true.  The success of GT has actually lead to increased sales of some cars (it actually lead to some cars only sold in Japan making their way over to the states), and manufacturers look upon the series as free advertising.

And I'm pretty sure Forza and the like don't have ener the selection of cars that GT does.  From what I understand, GT5 will have over 700 cars, a couple hundred more than GT4.
