So long brother...

Part of me wants to just take the leap and get it because I haven't bought a game for the PS3 that just blew me away since Call of Duty 4 (which destroys the XBOX 360 version BTW, which I also own). Also, I didn't really like Gears, so that's not too much of a selling point. Most of my Clan-mates also own LBP but no one seems to really be able to explain what makes the game so good... or really what the game is.

It's a pretty basic platformer, there's tons of jumping involved, along with some enemies/obstacles - just get to the end of the level to finish it. Some of the level designs are really cool. Most stuff looks like cardboard cutouts. There's a few random switches and objects to pull/grab to get through some areas, along with items you can collect to unlock stuff. Some levels require 2 players to unlock everything....you might have one player pull a switch while the other does somethin else. LBP's level editor is insane - there's so much you can do and build with it. At one point I spent hours for a few days straight just trying to make a tank'ish vehicle. After abit I got a little frustrated with the camera....but that was when I had a horrid 27 inch box TV (CRT?) so I might have to try it again. Considering what you can do with the level editor, I think the story mode could've done a better job at creating more complex situations. The game itself seems a tad bit more targetted at younger players. When I heard of unlocking costumes/etc, I didn't expect half the stuff I'd get to be bunny tails/pink glasses/cat ears/"cute" this n that, etc. A little annoying when you're trying to customize your sack thing. Of course that didn't stop me from playing it. It's a great game, but I honestly think some people here overexaggerate it just a bit. I wouldn't say it's so great that it's an absolute must-buy for everyone, but definitely worth a try for most. My only issue really is not being able to use the D-pad to move - in a game like this, sometimes I get a little frustrated constantly moving the stick from left to right. Again, good game but just hasn't caught my attention too much, though it is alot funner with 3-4 players. I'm also a CoD fan (Waw) so I'm usually playing that most of the time.
