Consoles aren't on a tragectory which will turn them into PCs but perhaps they are in a position to answer a fundamental question of usability and functionality. You can't use your computer unless you're sitting down so perhaps having one of the console makers take the lead in this field can yield surprising results for the future.
Computers as they currently are can be called stale. Its the same old mouse/keyboard interface thats been used for over 20 years and perhaps its time for a change to let people interface with them in a much more natural way, like how the Wiimote is a more natural and intuitive answer for a lot of games.
