Yeah I pretty much agree with that.

It will take a few years for the 'net to stretch far enough into the developing countires for this to happen.

Also, storage will have to greatly improve and price reduce, say about 2TB's worth for $150 or so.

Sure, the companies could focus wholey on the first world but they'd need a distribution model to make the RoI the same or more as they'd get by using physical media.

A cartridge/flashdisk idea I don't think would work too well. I don't think there is a way to get the cost of one of those down to DVD/BD levels - too many soldered bits and I'd imagine more complicated manufaturing compared to disks.

But we'll find out soon enough!
