I need some advice on buying a TV, because I don't really know anything about them. I've lurked around for a while so I know there are a lot of nice people here and thought that maybe someone would be able to help me.
First let me explain a bit about my situation. I have recently moved to Germany, and as I can't speak any German yet being able to watch TV isn't really an issue at the moment. I will, however, be buying a Wii shortly and need a TV to play it on. I'd probably be willing to spend around 300 euros, but if If I could spend less I would be happy.
I have a few questions. They may seem obvious, but I don't really know much about this kind of stuff.
Would you recommend gettng a monitor instead of a TV? This would make it easier to play DVDs from my laptop and I think there is a better quality in my price range? If so would I need to buy anything special to connect the Wii to it?
HD and Widescreen. Am I right in thinkning that a Wii would display the same on both an HD and a normal TV? I don't know anything about Widescreen though. Does this make games look stretched or do you end up missing the edges or having it squashed on normal TVs?
Size. I'm thinking in particular about things like split screen Mario Kart here. Have many of you experienced problems playing split screen on smaller screens and if so would you recommend going for a bigger one?
I'm sorry for all the questions, but I'd really value some helpful advice from knowledgeable people. There may be something I haven't even though of in which case don't hesitiate to let me know.
