For me it is not a huge improvement and not worth it. IMO if BR is %100 upscaled DVD is %85-90. There is a noticable difference(I can only assume a HUGE one for sound) for video but not enough to justify the cost.
Another problem is this, your setup is the key to good BR playing. I wrote a post many months back about how my and friends(about 5) first BR experience was a flop. Most people said it did look a bit better but nothing special. From there the post resulted is people saying the movie I watched was not a high quality transfer and that my TV set could not properly display BR's.
Now being a pretty tech savvy individual, I was told I could not properly set up my TV and if I cant do it right that means 90% of consumers can do it right. Dont even get me started on the types of tvs that are out there for sale("HD Tv's" that are 720p max). In closing it sure does look (and I can assume sound, I dont have 7.1 or 5.1) better, but not enough to WOW most people.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
