About the only thing I like about the whole trophy system are the platinum trophies.  Those are a good idea.  The rest is pretty stupid but the platinum trophies are great. 

I wonder if downloadable games that would normal just have 200 achievement points on XBL will have only bronze, silver, and gold trophies or if those will get their own platinum trophies.

Downloadable games don't have platinum trophies, it's been the case for 5 months....

Well some do. ex: WarHawk and Wipeout. (I do know WarHawk is on disc but I have it as a download.)

Nope, they are not. I wonder what the guideline is for which PSN games get platinum (cost to make, price of game, length of game etc.) Or maybe Wipeout was the only exception.
