That is a fine statment if the console cost your $100 and you could get another for all the real games. But if the console cost you $599 then you will be a bit upset, and can't till now afford another.
The PS3 is not dooooomed but it will now always be 3rd and it will have the software of a 3rd placed console, just like the xbox last time round. The biggest impact of being 3rd now is that the brand is in decline. This is different from the xbox last time, it was the first so what ever it sold it was better than the last one. For Sony this is now the downward slop and there will be a impact on the next generation as software companies will be more inclined to wait and see what it starts to sell like. But we will see....
