Yeah, I'm sorry, even if third party developers were flocking to the PS3, there would be no way it would be able to churn out even a fraction of the number of games the PS2 could unless of course you're willing to settle for Wii graphics games on your PS3, which defeats the purpose of a graphical powerhouse to begin with.

Again, when you take too large a leap forward you leave everyone else behind, and that includes your third party support (hell even their first party support is struggling to pump out a AAA game longer than 15 hours in less than 3-4 years). Even then its honestly more a situation of PS3/high-end-360 games becomming too costly and too man hour intensive to develop efficiently without a complete overhaul of the video game industry's infastructure. Either we're going to have to triple the amount of Developers on the market to compensate for longer development times or individual Developers are going to have to increase their development teams numbers exponentionally.
