The main problem that you have is really that the balance of the game isn't right. The game doesn't have traditional level scaling. Often when you go back to a previous area you see stronger monsters thrown in. You have to test the mobs you haven't fought before to see how strong they really are before you start chaining.

I was a little frustrated at my first time in the sand cavern stage because I had to limit chains to 2 of pretty weak monsters, but now I have 3 unions with 5 people each and on trash I can chain as many as I can fit in.

Some of the most broken balance things I've seen so far are... mobs that call for reenforcements can spam reenforce, the dragon quest in the desert town (the dragon could oneshot me), the "cursing turkey" quest (curse kills the whole unit), and debuff spells doing a tremendous amount of damage (it works both ways from what I've seen).

I really like the game (I hated IU for reference), but it seems like it was rushed. The technical problems don't bother me at all (the game looks great), but the balance issues can be frustrating. I'm at a part in the game now (I just got 15 max battlefield people), where I'm kicking the sh*t out of everything.

There's a ton of combat in the game, if you don't like the combat you will hate the game.
