It's probably not going to happen in Japan anytime soon if the DS Lite is any indicator. The DSL never had a price reduction in Japan and was always at the same 16,800 yen price point thoughout it's life, not even during it's "slow" period earlier this year. Now that's it's kind of being discontinued (in favor of the DSi) the price has actually gone up a little bit about 2,000 yen for the DSi.
