Yes, only in FPS's can people do what they can't do normally. I know that platformers are extraordinarily realistic as are most RPGs. I, for one, often leap three times my own height and travel through warp pipes. That is, when I'm not too busy fending off the orc invasions to level up my strength rating.
Seriously though, SaviorX, the reason why FPS's are so popular is because they're fun to play. The same reason why any other game genre is popular. Couldn't be simpler.
