I carry my PSP with me almost all the time when out and about in the standard pouch and it is just fine.
Battery life turned out to be better than I expected too, and the stamina battery pack gives impressive run times.
It is just fine for pick up and play portable games. Running games off the memory stick is as fast as you are going to get, and for UMD games you can put them in and out of standby mode in a second or two.
