theres also Dynamic and Static contrast ratio to consider
a static 3000:1 contrast ratio is better than a dynamic 3000:1 contrast ratio
plus different manufactures have different test measurements to inflate there numbers to market better.
My advice is try to go to your local store and check out first hand which looks better or just read a few reviews on reputable sites
so to sum up 5000:1 and 3000:1 are pretty close, dont assume 100% 5000:1 will be better. but if they are the same manufacture for both then most likely 5000:1 is the better choice.
