Is left 4 dead a good game?

Thats madness. Sure playing left 4 dead is like having pizza...easy to make and always tastes good...but variety is key. A key that L4d lacks...

Still a great game...but not Gears caliber.

You mean 4 completely different campaigns to play through, versus, and the fact the level is different every time you play isn't variety enough?
