Points in defence of the PC :

1. Mods - revitalise old games for nothing! Add new items, levels etc.
2. Joypads work with PC's, all Games for Windows games work with the 360 pad for instance. Mice & keyboard better for FPS and RTS games.
3. Consoles suffer from piracy too you know. Look at DS, PSP, 360 games on the torrent sites as proof!
4. Free games - flash games anyone? The web's full of them.
5. Console games have patches too. Bully on the 360 - unplayable without one. GTA IV crashes on 360 and PS3, Fable 2 (don't get me started on this one!) etc etc.
6. Cheaper hardware. How much for a 120 GB 360 hard disk?! You can buy a 1TB disk drive for a PC for less!
7. Cheaper games. Far Cry 2 on PC £25 on console £40. Just one example. Looks better too if you have a good spec PC.
8. Build your own PC - get transferable skills that may help you get a job.
9. Drivers. Get extra functionality for no cost. Graphics card drivers give you increased speed with each release (usually)
10. 3 years time. 360 and PS3 games look outdated compared to better looking PC games (you could say this is the case now!)

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.
