The closest I came to buying the addon was when 300 came out. But I'm still waiting to see how all of this plays out... no one wants to get stuck witha $200 add-on that can't play anything in a couple years.

There were recent deals for the add-on for around 135-150usd?  Actually this brings up something interesting.  Why is it that USA always have these "price drops" and slick deals?  I think it's cuz most consumers were price conscious so the strategy for most companies are competing with a low-cost strategy.  There's always a perceived quality and value, but based on trends of price wars and success of walmart, i'd say America, at least, will go for the low priced market, namely the HD DVD.
