I you prefer the individual purchase approach - Xbox still has more movies for rent (similar set of content, just about 10-15% more at any given time in the US market, don't know about others) and far, far more TV content (xbox has stuff from every major network and then some, ps3 has content from only one of the 4 major TV networks - and a bit from some smaller ones). Pricing is similar. PS3 in the lead on one issue - they offer movie purchases (not just rental), Xbox does not.
