As for your bolded part, there are many progs to stream to the PS3 - TVersity, Nero Media Home, Media Player 11 and many many more. Most will allow you to share music, vids and pictures depending on what content you allow the porg to have access to. These pop up in the XMB as media servers from where you can drill down to find what you'd like to stream at any given time. Also, you can still fast forward or rewind or pause the content being streamed as long as the program streaming it from your PC allows this and your connection and PC is good enough. As for the rest of your post, well i'm not able to use netflix anyway so i've got no opinion on it. |
This is true for media on your computer. Both consoles are capable of this. My question concerned streaming a stream from a remote source as it is already being streamed to your computer. I figured the program would just relay the stream without allowing you to remotely control the feed. But, I just looked it up.
PlayOn does indeed allow you to remotely control the video and lets you play and pause and select the video of your choice in your queue. Cool. However, you still can't fast-forward or rewind. Bummer. Also you can apparently watch streams from Hulu. I wrongly assumed you could not control the video from the device. I'll have to check it out for Hulu!
The 360 NetFlix offer is still a bit more advantageous with the fast forward/rewind and that you do not need your computer on, but this program seems to be much better than I thought.
