If you reread your own post you know what console you really want. It's not fun when you have a different console than your friends and can't play with them. Hawkeye did explain it best. You seem intrigued by both systems so I think you would benefit bybuying the ps3 now and an xbox360 later down the road if your friends choose to adopt it as well. This is one of the few times when I think you should follow the crowd.
