Kojima's made some great games outside of the MGS series, but nothing earth shattering. Besides, I doubt MTV's audience has ever heard of ZOE or Snatcher, so you can understand why they were left out.

MGS4 could well be Kojima's last big project and it was an absolute masterpeice at that. Don't you think it's appropriate that he gets the award at his peak? Miyamoto has plenty left in him.
