How many of those games are catered towards "expanded audience" and how many towards "core audience"? Of course there are a lot of overlapse, but I guess you can see the pattern. ;) Of course, you could take a look at the titles which sold on both wii and gc. Kart: sold 10 million on wii, 7 million on gc. What I've heard, a lot of people consider this a "bridge title". Smash bros: 7.35 on wii, 7.08 on gc. This is considered a "core title"? Mario (main series): 7.30 on wii, 6.28 on gc. Another "core title"? Mario party: 5.62 on wii, 2.47 on gc. This is a title for the expanded audience? Zelda: 4.88 on wii, 4.55 on gc. Core title, I presume. Lego star wars: 1.55 on wii, 0,98 on gc. Core? Metroid: 1.43 on wii, 2,83 on gc. Core title? Pokemon: 1.05 on wii, 2.54 on gc. Don't know what this is, there is just a big difference in sales numbers. :D
Those are just the top selling iterations each gen from top 50 sellers. There are some games more that had sold on both platforms, but they were pretty much even. Those most "core" nintendo titles haven't sold a lot better on wii than on gc, considering the much bigger install base this should give some idea about wii demographics.

Don't forget that some of those games, like Kart, Brawl or Galaxy are not even a year old, and still they are selling like new games. And where did you found those numbers? Is hard to believe that Twilight Princess sold that much on GameCube, or which Zelda is that one?
Edit: If that Zelda is WindWaker, then again you're comparing a game with more time in the market and that's a mistake.
