| Tremble said: Well I played it for 4 hours, not 30 minutes, so I have a good vision of the game. I dunno what's "wrong" with american/english reviews, but in france, the game has been killed. One of the reviewer said on "gamekult, l'émission" something like: "I'm tired of these over hyped rpg's that are supposed to be great, and finally are mediocre. But as we have nothing else to play (rpg's), we have to deal with it. If you wanna play good rpg's, buy a ps2, and get all the rpg's you missed, you'll have for money, they're far better than what we find on HD console..." I'm sorry but the guy is right. LO was mediocre, blue dragon was awfull, TB boring, TLR is mediocre too, WKC will probably be average too. I love rpg's, I played a lot of them, but the actual production is just average... |
Amercian reviewers are probably smart enough to look past technical issues to some extent and try to see the good points of the game and that's what they did. I think the real problem is that French gamers are very tired of playing JRPGs. Yes, TLR is overhyped to some extend but only because of the game's technical issues since the gameplay elements and story and graphics are good but the game is severely unpolished by S-E standards. S-E JRPGs are known for their immense amount of polish, especially FF. Star Ocean The Last Hope looks like it will be very good, great even. WKC looks pretty impressive if you ask me and the gaming press. I trust the gaming press from my own country more then the gaming presses from other countries. That's why I take reviews from Famitsu and Edge with a serious grain of salt.
