| Judeophobia said: I came across this article today when i was surfing the net. Its 8 "problems with video games" according to some site. Basically their reasons are: 1. They make kids less active True 2. They teach kids poor values The videogames dosn't teach values, that's wath parents are for 3. They can be violent They are, but the violent games are not for kids 4. They're expensive They are, but not if you compare it to others mediums of entreteinment like a movie where you spend 10USD for 2 hours and in video games you spend in an averange 50USD for 20 hours. 5. They introduce kids to topics parents might not be ready to discuss Like what, world domination, saving a princess.. 6. They become a point of contention between siblings Kids, especially brothers, will figth for any stupidity, toys, tv, who sits in the front sit of the car, etc. 7. They're not as educational as you'd like them to be They are games, not Schools. 8. They can be addictive Yes, but that depends on the parents too. Some of these are valid points, but I think its mainly up to the parents to control what games their kids are playing. If parents looked at what games their kids were playing, they could prevent #2, 3, and 5 from being a problem. Numbers 1 and 8 are basically the same issue, which can also be controlled by parents limiting how much the kids play. Do parents know theres a timer on the 360 that parents can set? I don't think the PS3 or Wii has one. They are expensive, but so are TV, computers, movies, etc. If you have the money, spend it. What are your guys thoughts on this? |
It's just another stupid study that tries to blame videogames for the bad job of some parents.
My definition of fanboy: An idiot that misses 2/3 of the fun.
