Gov. Bill Richardson is expected to be nominated for Secretary of Commerce. This is a mildly surprising nomination. Richardson's name was rumored for other positions but not for Commerce Secretary. It appears as if Obama is shrewdly nominating Democrats who could potentially rival his popularity.
