counting handhelds when the poster obviously didn't think about them?

Give me a real, well thought out argument on why Valkyria Chronicles should be considered, because I honestly just can't see it. I'm sorry, but I can't.

Probably has to do with the fact that you haven't played it.

Since it's in my opinion the best SRPG ever made I don't see why it wouldn't have a very good shot at RPG of the year.  It has a unique combination of real time tactics and turn-based strategy that's not found in any other game on the market.  The story is also quite good, the music beautiful, and the art, needless to say, breathtaking.  I'd like to know what RPG you think is more deserving?

I don't think any RPG deserves the award. They shouldn't give it to any RPG I know of or have played this year. Your reasoning is poetic, but frankly doesn't better qualify Valkyria for the award.

Er... I think we've hit a dead end here.  You asked for reasoning why it would be JRPG of the year.  Obviously some game must have that qualification.  If you didn't play any you enjoyed that's too bad, but I played quite a few good, nay great, JRPGs this year, so it's certainly an impressive consideration for Valkyria.

You were given your reason... not sure what else you want.  You don't seem to really have a point anymore.

I do have a point. Somehow I managed to represent my fksumot tag to the fullest at late night while getting you guys to defend Valkyria Chronicles for no reason whatsoever. Go back and read what DMeisterJ originally wrote and then read this next excerpt of mine...

.

Ok now we can continue. The reason Valkyria Chronicles (and no other RPG) is winning this award is simple, because it isn't real. Only one of two highly unlikely cases can make this happen.

1. By December 31st a console is mysteriously brought into the market with an image of it being advanced enough beyond the current consoles to be referred to as part of the 8th generation. The most likely scenario would be Apple, and by likely, I mean  "getting hit by lightning and winning the lottery at the exact same moment" likely.

or...

2. Sony has no 8th generation successor, and they still agressivly utilize the PS3 into the 8th generation by stretching it's full lifeline out into both generations.

BTW: Hook, line, sinker. And yes I'm bored. Boo Yah!
