| BengaBenga said: Well, reviewers always have their yearly preference. It's like a fad. This year the fad is that linearity is outdated. I don't understand that. Linearity makes for great cinematic story moments for example. Anyway, I'm not complaining, since I feel this gen could go equal to the amazing SNES-PS1 times if progress is being made at the current pace. There are much more JRPGs now and in the near future that are awesome. Sticking to my own systems: DS FFIII FFIV Suikoden Tierkreis Fire Emblem The World Ends With You DQIX Wii Tales of Symphonia 2 Muramasa: Demon Blade Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Arc Rise Fantasia Fragile 360 Lost Odyssee Tales of Vesperia FFXIII Last Remnant IU And that's from the top of my head, there are probably a lot more. I'm not complaining at all. |
JRPGs just seems to be going through some growing pains right now. The Japanese developers are still in the process of transitioning into the current gen. I'm sure once Star Ocean The Last Hope and White Knight Chronicles come out, I'm sure the genre(or subgenre) will get back on its feet.
