that reminds me of one time, while watching Fullmetal Alchemist, I had the english subtitles that most closely represent what the characters were saying in the Japanese version alongside the english dubbed speaking. I remember on the first episode, while Ed and Al were starting the alchemy that was going to take Ed's arm and leg and Al's body, Mustang was standing outside in the rain. This is what he said:
English dubbed vocal: I smell something foul in the air.
English subtitles that closely represent what they said in Japanese: Risimbol Villiage.
I know I spelled the village's name wrong, but look at the difference! It looks like the English script writers had a liberal take on what the English voice actors should say.
