I'm pretty sure Sporticus explained most of it but I'll continue. The PS3 is $600. The development cost is outrageous. It has a small userbase. The Wii is $250. It has a smaller development cost. It has the largest userbase (as of next week). I wonder what developers will develop for, a system that is expensive and minimal profit, or a system that's cheap and maximum profits. This is how the industry works. Games=Profit=Development=Games. PS3 broke got rid of the profit for 3rd parties. Therefore High Price=No 3rd parties=No Games=Failure. Don't say "Well Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy." They're going on PS3 because they can sell enough to make a profit. Why do you think mosts PS3 games are 1st party? Because 3rd parties CAN'T develop for it because they won't make a profit. Yet here you go out saying the PS3 will win anyway. And the PS2's success was because they introduced a price cut to take advantage of Microsoft and Nintendo's mistakes. Now Nintendo's taking advantage of Sony and Microsoft's mistakes yet you still think PS3's going to win because the Wii's going to "run out of steam." Let me tell you something, the casual market is far larger than the core market. I'm pretty sure that the DS proved that when people said THAT was going to run out of steam and it is still going strong. The Wii is capturing a new audience which will expand it sales to one of the greatest selling systems of all time while the PS3 will not reach mass market because they're aimed at a specific demograph, 12-18 year old males while nintendo is aimed at a much larger demograph. And unless Blu-Ray becomes a dominant format, which will be after the console war is finished and Blu-Ray's are cheaper than PS3's, the PS3 will not win this war.
