I am sure Microsoft server is on overload with all the download and people logging into Live just to much around. I know I did that for good hours just playing around with the new interface.
There was a few times I get kick off Live and it ask me to update. So the new dash can be patch on the fly. Finally no need for bi-annual update, and they can constantly add new Apps and features.
