It's a nice comeback but I don't think its a surprise. MS saw that PS3 could catch the 360 and took action (drastic price cuts, paid for exclusive DLC, etc) that has helped push the console ahead again.

I do think that they've been helped by the global recession, as this has pushed even more to the lower price option than might have been the case otherwise, but the core moves were made by MS.

Their issue remains that in some ways they are reliant on PS3 remaining too expensive. The evidence seems to suggest that without being a lot cheaper, having more DLC, etc. the PS3 would outsell the 360 due to Playstation remaining an overall stronger brand WW.

If, and that's a big IF, Sony could get PS3 price point close to 360 then we'd really have a fight on our hands but I think that the same recession that helps MS with price point also hinders Sony making more price cuts.

So for now the momentum has swung back to 360.

Mind you looking at WW Wii figures both are still a long way behind any shot whatsoever at finishing in 1st place.
