Not only is Britain's population similar to Italy's (61m to 58m) Stickball, but expendable income in the UK isn't that much higher than in Italy. The base income is essentially the same (32k vs 30k) but of course taxes and forex variations could make the difference greater but I can't imagine it would do so in a significant way. My guess would be other reasons such as fewer kids in Italy, lack of games in Italian, shorter history of gaming, major difference between north and south, etc. are having a bigger impact than the small differences in population and income.
