The PS3 only has a 2x Blu-ray player which reads at 9MB/s which is pathetic. This coupled with the cost the Blu-ray player adds to each PS3 and the 12-18 month delay the Blu-ray player caused it is the PS3's biggest disadvantage.
Back on topic, I think that the next gen consoles will be closer in terms of hardware power and much more importantly, cost. Hopefully Sony gets it right and focuses on components that will more greatly impact game performance such as the GPU and RAM or on reducing the cost of the PS4. If they had any business sense they would launch before the next Xbox for a lower price but I somehow doubt that scenario.
