Man the U.S. Census is so dumb. We studied it for weeks in my linguistics class. They don't even ask if you can speak 3 or more languages. They just ask if your primary language is English, and if it isn't, you get to fill in the blank. And it doesn't distinguish between Cantonese and Mandarin. And it has tons of other awkward mistakes that give us crappy data. I think they finally added biracial/multiracial as a category though, so our data for that JUST started.
