Yes, Harmonix made Rock Band after Guitar Hero 2, but that was never the question.

You were asked how much the franchises Guitar Hero and Rock Band have changed after their first iteration. That means you look at Guitar Hero as a franchise and you look at Rock Band as a seperate franchise, because after all Rock Band is a different franchise than Guitar Hero.

Well, this is awkward because the creators of the game jumped ship between games.

Like if there was another Zelda game but Miyamoto didn't make it, you'd be like, well it's the same, but only because someone else didn't change it.

Same thing.  Rock band was next, but Activision wasn't having it, and MTV was, and since they couldn't keep the Guitar Hero name, they had to change it.
