More than a million consoles were shipped across Europe on launch day last week with 600,000 sold
I was optimistic with regard to the PS3 launch for Europe, but this beats my expectations. Considering the price is higher than the XBox 360, the XBox 360 only managed to sell 390K in Europe for 2005, including Christmas, IMO for 2006 XBox 360 sales in Europe, except for the UK, weren't impressive at all.
North America is the XBox 360's strongest market, but still the PS3 managed to slightly outperform the XBox 360 in the same timeframe according to NPD. Considering the 60GB, with Wi-Fi/Flashcard reader sold much easier than the cheaper 20 GB model, I think many consumers aren't solely looking at the price, but rather at the bang for their buck.
