I also enjoyed TDKR as much as The Watchmen. The difference is that I'm not going to prop up Miller for being an inferior writer and letting Batman & Superman hold together the book while Moore dug his Watchmen characters out of the recycle bin and wrote a great story around nothing.
Take Batman out of TDKR, lose that emotional baggage, and you've got a pretty mediocre piece.
