I'm in the married category.
Going on 2 years next April and it's successful. Since deciding to join the Air Force, it has put a little strain on the relationship, but it passed and things are back to normal. Divorce rates are understandable in the military but a lot of times it's an excuse for the partner to whore around while their significant other is overseas. I've heard that story way too many times it makes me sick.
I got into marriage though because I honestly love the person I'm with. We've been together for 6 years and have gone through many rough times, but necessary for a good relationship to last.
No relationship can last long without some good fights and communication.
Most people from my high school class got knocked up before they even graduated. All of the cheerleaders minus 1 were pregnant or on their first child by the time they finished school. Others were jocks focused on popularity. I laugh inside when I see them bagging my groceries at Food Lion, still in the same hometown when I come back to visit. I mean no offense to people who don't move on to college or anything, just those who thought it was funny to ridicule others for not being popular in high school, or having sex, only to have setbacks while the "losers" moved up in life.
