Vaan's problem for me wasn't the core character himself, but rather his clothes...I think he should had a white shirt on or something underneath his vest-like jacket. I think he also could have used a new hair stylist.

but I like FFXII so what do I know eh?

I never understood why Vaan looked fine in the FMVs and bad in normal cutscenes. In the cutscenes all his ribs were marked, he looked like a freak, but in the FMVs he looked like a normal person. That was my main problem with him. Apart from the fact that he was a bit forgettable (not horrible, just not very interesting)
