Horde puts you and up to 4 friends against wave after wave of increasingly more difficult (in numbers and type) or Locusts.
At earlier levels it is pretty easy however as the progress the locust get smarter, AND can spawn anywhere.
The pacing is frenetic, the action pretty non-stop, and you won't forget the first time you are saved and revived by a buddy or the first time you are left alone against the end of a wave of the horde and survive.
Other on-line modes such as Wingman, Submission and Guardian are equally fun, IMO.
