The first game was not as good as the first simply because they took out somee of the Disney for the sake of focusing on more of Square's rootin' tootin' bull manure. I never did care for the actual plot in the first game, but that moment near the end where one sees Chernabog from Fantasia as one of the final bosses is one of the best things Square ever made.
