The hypocracy here is ridiculous. The games are great because Miyamoto won't release them unless they are. Then we critisize for taking too long, well which is it? What do you want, crap sequels or innovative original work?
And besides its pretty weak, lazy and un original to rely on the same formula in game after game. A new gun is not creative, more violence is not creative, arguably a dog / education / sport / yoga game isn't creative either ( not according to some) BUT its original atleast.
The true test of Nintendo's casual / blue ocean approach will be clear ( as if it isn't already for eg. Deca Sports, Big Beach) when MS tries to do something new.
It won't work, not like the way Miyamoto games (and other japanese dev.) have worked in the past.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
