@Crazzy: Sony discontinued the older SKUs and introduced the 40GB PS3 with a lower price point. The only reason for this was to get the price of the PS3 down. If you don't want to call that a price drop then it's pretty we'll simply won't agree on this matter.
About your NA+EU expectations, it really makes no sense to just add up the first 10 months and because they're almost even conclude the holiday sales will be the same as well. You need to look at the trend, and for the Americas PS2 has been increasing the gap steadily across the year, so it seems highly likely it will continue to do so in the holiday season.
For Others PS3 went ahead at the first half of the year, steadily outselling the PS2. But around July the gap stabilized and since October PS2 is starting to outsell the PS3 because its sales jumped upwards from around 70k a week to over 100k a week. And from this week forward its sales will increase week after week, so unless PS3 is seeing even bigger increases the gap will continue to decrease. Which means that even if it somehow does manage to stay close to PS2 in Others it still means for the Americas and Others combined it will be outsold by the PS2.
