It's not hard to prevent RROD. I have a formerly RROD system. I cleaned it out and hooked up an extra fan, then have it set in a place where it gets decent airflow. Never have had a problem.
My uncle has a launch system that he plays pretty frequently. Never had a problem.
Just take the nobrainer precautions and you're most likely not going to have any problems. And if you do? Xclampfix.com. I have a friend that makes a secondary living off of buying RROD systems, fixing them, then reselling at $100 profit. Sometimes he fixes five of 'em in one day. He's only had like three or four that the x-clamp fix didn't work with.
