TWRoO,
Crazzy, in NO WAY are both of those years the 2nd year for each console.
i ALREADY answered to that in my first post:

PS2 launched in March 2000. Was selling for 10 months.
PS3 launched in November 2006. Was selling for 1,5 month.

10 months of 2000 close to 1 year? YES.
1,5 month of 2006 close to 1 year? NO.
12 months of 2007 close to 1 year? YES.

Overall:
2000 PS2 = 2007 PS3 - 1st YEAR.
2001 PS2 = 2008 PS3 - 2nd YEAR.

Anyway, i gave ANSWER to koffieboon QUESTION.
@Crazzy: PS3 is already about 2M behind, what gives you the idea it won't fall back further compared to PS2 in 2001?

And i ANSWERED YOU.

So far,
PS3 (NA+EU) sales in 2008 = PS2 (NA+EU) sales in 2001 - TRUE.

And then i wrote about Japan.

Well, I know how futile it is trying to convince you of your fallacy, but nonetheless I'll give it a shot.

The PS2 was released in Japan in March of 2000, correct? Okay, we can agree upon that. What everyone has issues with is you claiming this counts when there are no sales for America or Europe. This goes against any sort of trends that usually happen in a console's lifetime.

The PS2 was likewise released in November of 2000 for America and Europe. Once again, the PS2 had only been selling in one region as opposed to, when it launched, the PS3 had been selling in two. These two regions are bound to trend faster than one region. Meaning, while the PS3 was finishing its first "year," 2007, the PS2 was at a main disadvantage in its first "year."

For seven of the ten months before the other regions launched, the PS2 was selling on only one region. For a mere three months, the PS3 was selling at two. But this thread isn't about the consoles' first respective years. It's about their second.

In PS2's second "year", Japan was trending just fine. However, America and Europe were still in their infancies, they still had yet to get a year beneath their belts. Thus, they would statistically sell slower than their future selves with the PS3.

In PS3's second "year", all of the regions save for Europe trend just fine. Europe was released nine months prior, yet despite this, it still has had more time on the market than the PS2 in its equivalent spot in 2001.

You can try to compare the years for the sake of it and you won't get any complaints from me. But when you try to extrapolate how the PS3 is going to trend in the future by paralleling it to the PS2, you'll have loads of people, myself included, trying to convince you of your fallacy. Like I said, if you try to compare the numbers for fun, that's fine. Just don't try to make any meanings out of it; you'll get your ass creamed.

P.S. I think the reason for his apparent lack of reading comprehension is that English is not a very good language for him to understand. Tying vocabulary together to determine meaning can be pretty hard when you just barely know the language. =]
