The problem here is it's still all bullshit. If the old console gens have anything in common with this gen, then you've got to factor in all similarities. In particular:
- The leading console is almost always the weakest (NES, GB, PS1, PS2, DS, Wii).
- Price drops have never given a significant increase in hardware sales.
- The losing consoles tend to die off much quicker than the leading console (~5 years).
Suddenly the HD situation doesn't look so hot.
OT: It wouldn't do as well as you think. By the time it reaches that price, it will be old news.
If you're thinking, "imagine what the PS3 would sell like if it were $200-250 now," then it's meaningless. Imagine what the Wii would sell like if it were HD for the same price - far better.
