Hey! Live has it's fair share of idiots too. Don't try and claim this as a win for PSN.

Although Live tends to degrade into a tirade of racist insults. The free headset doesn't pick up on enough background noise. You gotta buy the wireless one for that.

That's true.  I actually think that LIVE has more idiots, but that's mostly because more people have headsets on LIVE and that undoubtedly increases the odds.  As for the "racist insults" statement, that's a little silly.  One of my best friends plays with me on LIVE, and he is black (and his voice is a dead giveaway for it) and literally in 5 years on LIVE with each other we've only had someone break into a racist tirade once (when Halo 2 first came out)... and that's it.

I actually like the PSN, but I really hate the fact that Sony chose to use BlueTooth for a number of reasons, one of which is the fact that their darn headsets pickup every pin drop in the room.

For example, while I was playing COD4, my wife quietly says to me, "Honey, I'm gonna jump in the shower".

And of course, with the dumb Bluetooth headset, everyone in the room heard it, and therefore for the next 6 matches all I heard was people saying, "Tell your wife I'll jump in the shower with her", and "Hey dude, does your wife look hot naked?"

It doesn't mean that PSN people are any more immature than the people on LIVE, the difference is the wired headset most people have on LIVE literally only picks up sounds 6 inches or less away from the mic.

Also, the Bluetooth headsets, controllers, etc suck down their internal batteries REALLY fast.  The headset is the worst really because I have to plug it back in every 3-4 hours which is really annoying.

Lastly, a lot of seasoned PS3 players seem to have a difficult time syncing their headset with the console.. and therefore a lot of people end up not using it.  Anyway, as much as I love my PS3 (I even love the sixaxis controller that everyone else seems to hate) Sony made a mistake on the Bluetooth thing.

If you are finding the headset oversensitive, go into accessories ->  audio devices, and drop the sensitivity a notch or two.  Should work just fine.  I think a lot of people on PSN have their sensitivity too high, or their TV's too loud, and it causes feedback through the microphone.
