PS3 is selling 4,5 months less in Europe, then in other regions, so what? People still compare PS3 and x360 sales, and speak about difference between them.

PS2 launched in March 2000. Was selling for 10 month.
PS3 launched in November 2006. Was selling for 1,5 month.

10 month of 2000 close to 1 year? YES.
1,5 month of 2006 close to 1 year? NO.
12 month of 2007 close to 1 year? YES.

Overall:
2000 PS2 = 2007 PS3.
2001 PS2 = 2008 PS3.
IF console selling less or more in some regions since it`s lifetime started, THIS doesn`t matter.

Like on Front page Console sales are compared/stated at THIS time. it doesn`t matter, that Wii and PS3 were launched later.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
